Myosung Crew is a performance team from old school Korea days (before the year 2000). They've had a lot of different dancers in their team and dance styles and was founded by 'Wavezino,' an older generation streetdancer. Myosung have incorporated Jazz Dance, Popping, Breaking and Contemporary into their routines with mad skills and like 'Morning of Owl' crew who I blogged about earlier here, have nearly always had a 'story' in their work. The piece I showed up there is called "Phantoms of Death," the bboy in it is 'Sol,' he is Chel.C's brother from Knufunk Crew. Knufunk came to Singapore in 2006 for the last Floorskillz Bboying championship. This style of popping dance is called 'animation,' and I've never seen it done before outside the 'puppet' / 'mannequin' feel where people move to impersonate a giant toy. Check out U-Min crew from Japan for another good example of animation dance. ¡°Animation¡± is a style and a technique that attempt to imitate film characters being animated by stop motion. The technique consists of moving rigidly and jerky by tensing muscles and using techniques similar to strobing and the robot to make it appear as if the dancer has been animated frame by frame. This style was heavily inspired by the dynamation films created by Ray Harryhausen, such as The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad (1958). (dancemasterz.net) Article By: floorthelove.blogspot.com/
